Please note that for this time only, were meeting on a Friday. Many thanks for all those who registered so far. We still have a few places available. Please send a note to me if you plan on attending and have not done so yet. It is the 10th year that Jem Bendell has reviewed trends in CSR every quarter for the Journal of Corporate Citizenship, and every year for the Lifeworth Annual Review of Corporate Responsibility. What might the next 10 years look like? Will a "Corporate Responsibility Movement" take shape, as Dr Bendell suggests in his new book? Come and discuss your ideas with the co-founder of CSR Geneva, on what is likely to emerge in the field of CSR, social enterprise and responsible investment - and whats needed. Jem will be just back from the UN Global Compact Summit in New York, and offer some insights on that event. All participants are asked to take time to reflect on what they think the future holds, before the breakfast. Speaker and facilitator Jem Bendells profile is at http://ch.linkedin.com/in/jembendell and his company is at http://www.lifeworth.com/consult. Breakfast Venue: Private Room at Le Pain Quotidien - bd Helvétique 21, Friday 9 July 2010, 8-9am. It’s in a room on the right-hand side of the café as you look from the street - come in through its own glass door there. Please bring CHF 16 per person for the breakfast and discussion - this will buy you one hot drink, a fresh orange juice, a croissant and all sorts of interesting bread with jam, honey and chocolate spread - anything on top of this must be paid for additionally: its delicious, we hope to see you there! Our focus at Vayugrid is to leverage the First Mile model around Renewables and Demand-Supply community linkages, and make a difference to the world, however small, to key challenges of today--such as fragmentation, inclusion and sustainable growth and inclusive capitalism. We believe that Gandhi’s socio-economic model of Production by the Masses, rather than Mass Production is sustainable due to the inclusive linkages of demand-supply communities, thus creating jobs and impacting local GDP. We believe the key to a sustainable future lies in renewables, inclusive bottom-up growth, and creating sustainable communities, where people and communities will not just produce but also consume, making them Prosumers.csr@unige chJune 3 - 5, 2010 - Zermatt Summit 2010 The objecti...csr@unige chJune 3 - 5, 2010 - Zermatt Summit 2010 The objective of the Zermatt Summit is to explore and formulate a roadmap of how to navigate through the challenges currently facing mankind and help create a better world. People need to be placed at the centre of the globalization process, whereby the world of high finance would serve the economy, the economy would serve the common good, and the common good would care for the people, enhancing the prospects of poorer and socially marginalised groups. The notion of Common good The rapid process of globalization makes it an even greater challenge to balance the needs of human beings whether they are material, spiritual or emotional with those of society at large. Under these circumstances, using terms such as the ‘common good’ could be very helpful in defining new rules. Implicit in the common good is a full respect for both the individual and collective interests of society while at the same time asking the individual to demand less while the community at large concedes some of its power. The Zermatt summit will focus on the respective roles and responsibilities of institutions and individuals from the perspective of furthering the common good.
